Rudy Kadlub, a 74-year-old powerlifter, celebrated his birthday by setting a new two-rep personal record in deadlifting. He lifted 524 pounds, which surpassed last year's achievement by one pound. Kadlub, who only used a belt and chalk to lift the weight, said that he might have to revise his goals for next year, as an increase of just one pound would be insufficient.
Apart from being an accomplished powerlifter, Kadlub is also the co-founder of Kabuki Strength, a maker of gym equipment. He has won 34 out of the 40 sanctioned competitions he has participated in during his 17-year career.
