Fitness First UK is undergoing a restructuring process due to rising costs and remote working, which has led to reduced usage of certain city centre clubs. The company is renegotiating rents and may reduce the number of clubs. Fitness First lost £23m in 2021 and is late filing its 2022 accounts.
Despite this, the company remains optimistic and believes its plan will secure a sustainable future. Fitness First's current ownership includes entities from Australia, Germany and the UK. The brand is successful in Germany where it has high consumer ratings and an average NPS score of 45 across 200,000 surveys in 2022.
