The police are investigating the possible suicide of a 10-year-old boy in New York, who was bullied so severely that he stopped going to school for months. Gianlukas ‘Lukas’ Illescas died by asphyxiation on May 25. His father, Christian Illescas, claims the Hillcrest Elementary school officials ignored his son’s bullying. The family believes that Lukas begged to be allowed to miss school prior to his death.
The family and other upset parents called out the school district at a meeting. The Peekskill Police Department is currently investigating Lukas’ death, and the school district states it is working to address the accusations of inappropriate behaviour.
A GoFundMe fundraiser to cover the cost of Lukas’ funeral and other memorial plans has raised over $14,000.
