A 29-year-old woman narrowly escaped a rape attempt on a New York City subway platform after getting off a train. The suspect exposed himself before punching and pinning the woman to the ground. He then allegedly attempted to force the woman to perform oral sex on him before trying to remove her clothes.

The woman managed to flee just before the doors closed and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect and are appealing for the public's help to identify and capture him. Despite crime dropping on New York's subways, felony assaults have remained slightly more frequent in the subway than before the pandemic.
