An inquest into the horrific head-on crash that killed a mother and her four children has revealed that the woman, Charmaine McLeod, heard animal voices and voices telling her to kill herself. McLeod had numerous meetings with mental health practitioners and psychiatrists, and was assigned both antidepressants and antipsychotic medications to manage her symptoms.
The inquest is also examining police responses to McLeod's complaints of domestic and family violence, her mental health issues, and the response by agencies responsible for her children's protection. The possibility of the crash being a murder-suicide is also being investigated.
